Spearfishing Charter Options

Spearfishing Rules & Regulations

Florida enforces strict harvest rules to protect the Gulf ecosystem. When spearfishing out of Destin–Fort Walton Beach, ensure your group remains compliant:

  1. Licenses & Permits: A valid Florida Saltwater Fishing License (with Reef Fish Angler/SpinyLobster designations if applicable) is mandatory.

  2. Restricted Zones: Spearfishing is prohibited within 100 yards of public swimming beach, commercial or public fishing piers, any part of a bridge that allows public fishing and within 100 feet of any part of a jetty above the water surface - except for the last 500 yards of a jetty that extends more than 1,500 yards from the shoreline.

  3. Prohibited Species: Species including (but not limited to) Goliath Grouper, Redfish, Tarpon, and Billfish are strictly protected from spearfishing harvest.

  4. Dive Flags: A standard 20x24-inch Diver Down Flag with a stiffener is required on all dive vessels.
