COMING SOON! The World’s Largest Artificial Reef
The SS United States is an iconic American ocean liner renowned for its record-breaking speed and innovative design. Launched in 1952, it remains the fastest ocean liner ever built—and today, plans are underway for it to become the world’s largest artificial reef right here in Destin-Fort Walton Beach. This project honors the SS US by preserving its historic legacy while also bringing significant environmental and economic impacts to our region.
Deployment of the SS United States is tentatively planned for Spring 2026.
